Cita: If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his language, that goes to his heart.

¡Bienvenidos! - Welcome!

Spanish at Judson Middle School
Speaking another language broadens your world and opens up amazing opportunities. As students begin acquiring Spanish and learning about other cultures, they are embarking on an exciting journey which hopefully they will be inspired to continue for the rest of their lives. In Spanish 1 and 2, students acquire language proficiency through exposure to large amounts of "comprehensible input" and opportunities to practice talking about themselves, family, friends, stories, and their world. Sixth-graders can explore Spanish during the nine-week sixth-grade exploratory wheel. Students have the opportunity to receive high school credit for the Spanish class they are enrolled in during their eighth-grade year.

Tu Profesora/Your Teacher
This is my fifth year teaching at Judson Middle School, the best middle school in Salem! I teach 1st and 2nd year Spanish, Exploratory Spanish, and English Language Development. Both my Bachelor's and Master's degrees are from Western Oregon University. My teaching endorsements are in Spanish, English, and Bilingual ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages). Prior to teaching, I spent 12 years working with City of Salem Neighborhood Association program. I have two children, one of whom attends Sprague, and the other is a student at Western Oregon University. In my free time I enjoy learning other languages (I am currently learning Russian), reading lots of books in English and Spanish, spending time with my husband and children, hiking, running, cooking, travelling, drinking green tea, eating dark chocolate and learning new things.
